Longstaff cycles have been hand made in Staffordshire England since 1982. Specialising in traditional hand-built steel custom bicycles, tricycles and tandems. Founded by George Longstaff we continue the tradition of high quality, fillet brazed and lugged bicycle, tricycle and tandem frames. Since 2018 Jason Rourke is now the head frame builder. Bev Longstaff has decided to explore new ventures as Brian Rourke Cycles and Longstaff Cycles have always had a good relationship with mutual respect, Jason took over the brand. He had been helping out recently so it was a natural progression to take over and begin a new chapter in the Longstaff brand

Vintage F Ephgrave Bicycle Frame - LE3073 Frame Number 22 inch / 56cm Reynolds 531 Tubing full professional restoration having purple finish. Les Ephgrave is considered one of the master craftsmen of the post war era. Les (also known known as Lou to his closest friends), built his last frame circa 1968. He worked for Harry Resch, then on to Claud Butler’s. He went on his own in 1948. His brother Norman joined him. When orders were low, they produced steel shop fittings, shelving etc., which is where the trade-mark ‘lollypops’ and bars on the seat stay caps came from. These were the waste/cut-outs from that shelving production. Len Phipps, the well-known lug cutter, learned from Lou Ephgrave during the 1960s. Len would visit the Ephgrave frame building shop in Clapton, London on his Saturday's off to watch the 'master' at work. Len reports that Lou Ephgrave DID cut all the Ephgrave frame set lugs himself. Len died in 1969 of cancer. His brother eventually emigrated to Australia and he died there in 1980

Vintage Barry Hoban Bicycle Frame - 722 Frame Number 21 inch / 53cm full professional restoration having Chrome Forks and Campagnolo Rear Dropouts, Campagnolo Bottom Bracket. Barry Hoban (5 February 1940 - 19 April 2025) was an English professional cyclist who rode during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He formerly held the record for the most stage wins in the Tour de France by a British rider, winning eight between 1967 and 1975. He was also the first Briton to win two consecutive stages of the Tour (a feat matched by Mark Cavendish in 2008, twice in 2009 and once in 2010, and by Geraint Thomas in 2018)

Vintage A S Gillott Bicycle Frame - 501723 Frame Number 22 inch / 56cm Reynold 531 Tubing full professional restoration also come with 1954 Gillott Catalogue. Arthur Gillott set up shop at 179 Southampton Way in 1921. He sold general ironmongery and bicycles called ‘Hamptons’. These were bought in. Prior to owning the shop he was a stonemason. He employed Harry Carrington in 1929 who worked his way up to manager by 1939. Arthur Gillott had opened a second shop in Atlantic Avenue, Brixton. In the last months of WW2 Harry had foreseen the market for quality lightweights and arranged to have Jim Collier released from war work at Woolwich Arsenal. Jim had been a master builder at Hobbs of Barbican pre-war. Frame building began in May 1945. The period of peak production was late ’40s to early ’50s. 5 Builders were at work including Ron Cooper who joined in 1947, tutored by Bill Philbrook and Len Hart.
